SPD classification:

• Type 1 (Class I/B) for protection against direct and indirect strikes at the building entry.
• Type 2 (Class II/C) for protection against indirect strikes inside the building.
• Type 3 (Class III/D) for protection against weak indirect strikes and sensitive loads.

• Uc (Maximum Continuous Operating Voltage): The maximum voltage that the SPD can withstand continuously.
• Number of Poles: The number of conductors the SPD protects.
• Remote Contact (RC): Provides remote signaling of SPD status.
• Iimp (Impulse Current): The maximum impulse current the SPD can withstand for a Type 1 SPD.

• In (Nominal Discharge Current): The nominal discharge current the SPD can handle for a Type 2 SPD.
• Imax (Maximum Discharge Current): The maximum discharge current the SPD can withstand for a Type 2 SPD.
• Uoc/Isc (Open Circuit Voltage/Short Circuit Current): Parameters for Type 3 SPDs.
• Up (Voltage Protection Level): The remaining voltage across the SPD during a surge event.

• Residential and commercial buildings: Protection of electrical appliances, electronics, and lighting systems.
• Industrial facilities: Protection of sensitive equipment and machinery.

• Telecommunication systems: Protection of data lines and equipment.
• Renewable energy systems: Protection of photovoltaic (PV) systems.
